Letter : "Frontier Guardian," Kanesville, Iowa, to John T. Caine, St. Louis, Mo., 1851 Aug. 29.

Handwritten and signed letter requesting Caine to attend to various matters for the Mormon newspaper, including paying a debt to David Nicholson and purchasing paper stock with an enclosed draft (check). The letter is in MacKintosh's hand with editor Orson Hyde's name included. MacKintosh refers to Hyde's absence from the newspaper and Hyde's expected return in the fall; he thanks Caine for his unexplained "cooperation" in Pottawatamie; and urges Caine to raise the difference, if the draft is not sufficient to purchase the paper stock, "from the good folks there," with the intention of reimbursement.
